Sew Curtains like a professional – Any window in your house would benefit from a beautiful pair of hand finished curtains. Learn how the professionals achieve that look and apply your knowledge to making curtains that will stand the test of time and be the admiration of all who see them. Learn how to measure, cut and prepare fabric, mitre corners and insert penny weights, a lining and header tape in addition to the stitches required to construct curtains. You will make a sample curtain to use for future reference. Some basic sewing experience necessary.

The day runs from 10 am until 4pm with a short break for lunch at World of Sewing, 56-64 Camden Road, Tunbridge Wells.

The cost is £40 for the day.

Since professional finished curtains are made mainly using hand techniques there is no need to bring a machine on this day. There will be some available to share in class to do the small amount of machine stitching required. However, you will need to bring the following:

A basic sewing kit (scissors, pins, threads, needles, tape measure, etc., some small scraps to practice your stitch length on, 1 metre of curtain fabric, 1 metre curtain lining fabric, 1.5 metres pencil pleat tape and two penny weights.

Please wait until confirmation that the course will run before buying any items, unless you already have them at home. There will be plenty of opportunity to buy materials and notions on the day with a 10% discount on items in the shop (excluding sewing machines and patterns)Curtain techniques
